Be patient. Your guide can find the fish but there are no guarantees the fish will be hungry. Prepare for variable weather conditions. You will mostly likely get wet from spray while traveling from spot to spot so don’t be surprised. Keep water sensitive items in a zip-lock bag.

Prepare for anything and everything as the weather can be fickle at times. Prepare to get wet from splashing during travel from spot to spot. And above else, be patient. The guide will find the fish but he/she can't guarantee they will be hungry.

EXCELLENT CHARTER! TOP NOTCH SERVICE!!
100% will book again when we come back.
Right from the get-go, John was responsive at getting back to us. He was thoughtful when communicating the options we had for time and what to fish for, as the weather over the days we were there was not ideal. (Which we understood as we've done other charters)
We did a morning charter. John greeted us right away, and we went to the boat. His boat was in pristine condition! Very clean and nice equipment. Everything ran so smoothly. We tried many spots for catching something and saw many other boats out. Fish were not being kind and didn't want to take the bait, despite having many nibbles. Dolphins were awesome to see!!
It was one of the BEST charters we've been on!!
John is so friendly and truly has some of the best customer service! You will not be disappointed at all to book this charter!
Best day on the water!!
Thanks John! We will be back

I recently had the best first-time ocean fishing experience with Captain Richard. From the moment we stepped on his boat, it was clear he was knowledgeable and dedicated to ensuring our unforgettable trip. Despite it being our first time, Captain Richard's expertise and recommendations made the trip enjoyable for everyone on board.
One thing that impressed us was Captain Richard's attention to detail. He not only guided us on how to land the redfish but also provided valuable information on the current conditions out on the water. He ensured we were well-prepared, keeping us warm and dry throughout the trip.
Even though it was a slower season for the sport, Captain Richard's skills and dedication made it a strong start for Texas saltwater fishing. We were amazed by our 97% success rate in landing the redfish that took the bait. It was an exhilarating experience, and we couldn't have asked for a better captain to guide us.
Additionally, Captain Richard's thoughtfulness extended to creating a fun atmosphere on the boat. He suggested we bring our fish's favorite playlist, which added to the excitement of reeling in the reds. It was a unique touch that made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, I recommend Captain Richard for the first-timer on an ocean fishing trip. His expertise, attention to detail, and passion for the sport create a fantastic adventure that will leave you with unforgettable memories. Don't miss the opportunity to fish with him and experience the thrill of reeling in those redfish!

I would ask who captains the boat? The size? amenitities, if any? How many people to occompany you? What is the trip experience broken down in time frames? Ex: how do they manage a 4 hour or 6 hour trip? Do they change fishing locations? if so, how often? Do they supply bait? If so, can you also bring your own? Also, can you bring your own rod if you'd like? What food/drinks can you bring?

Trust your guide to find the fish. October is comfortable weather but cool water is hard to find, and that’s were the fish are. Go for quality fish, not quanity. Guides know the spots, patience is needed. Enjoy conversation while fishing.

be prepared to be chilly, then warm, then just right. Also be prepared that the weather can change at any given time- the water could be extra choppy and not a smooth ride. You may catch fish and I hope you do but it is not an absolute that you will catch and be able to keep what you catch. Enjoy the time it really is fun and beautiful.

Booking a fishing guide is tough, since we don't know much about the selection of fishing guides on this website and we have to read all information about them to determine which fishing guide best suits our needs. I have to say, I was extremely lucky in booking a fishing trip with Captain Lebbeus Kemp who was outstanding as a person and as a fishing guide. The clients I took fishing had a great experience and I know they will be talking about this trim for years to come.
Great Job Captain Lebbeus Kemp

Captain Mike and he is crew are AWESOME! I took a friend who had never been fishing. He put us on multiple sharks! We had everything we needed, water, music, laughter, and professional guidance from a PRO!
I will book again when I am in town!

Get a quality guide if you’re an amateur angler. My son has spent 5 days fishing and pulled a few bait fish and catfish, nothing worth having. Our guide Bubba had us pulling bait fish left and right as soon as we got there, and maybe a hour tops before hitting our first of two sharks. Made the day awesome and the trip super for my kids!

Consider time of year and time constraints. Snapper are further out during the warmer months, which means you're limited by federal limits instead of Texas limits on how many you catch. A longer trip adds more time for trawling for other fish if you have to go further out for snapper.

It’s pretty hot so make sure to dress with plenty of coverage to prevent sunburns and bring plenty of drinks for hydration! We also preplanned and gave our kids Dramamine to prevent sea sickness as we werent sure how they would handle it and did not want to take any chances on ruining the trip.

I’ve been fishing here for a few years, and if it’s your first time, I highly recommend booking a fishing charter. The captain will know exactly where to take you to get on the fish and make the most of your trip.

Wear appropriate clothing not only for the weather but modesty as well, tank top and shorts are better than a bikini any day. Don’t overdue it on the substances/drinking before or during your trip. Respect your captain, stay hydrated, have fun and be kind!

We caught fish all day. If you just want action they know where to go..... We wanted some to take home but the wind was not to friendly that day. Had a good time, was wore out by the time we headed to the docks. It was a good day out on the water.

Did not know what to expect when we decided to take my 9 year old grandson fishing booked with Get Hooked and Capt MO and Naan did not disappoint. They new the assignment was our grandson and they gave him the trip of his life. He caught more fish than any of us including a black tip Shark. We started as strangers and were treated like family. Capt MO we will be back for more fun and will only want you as our Captain .

Weather plays a huge role in the movement of the boat. If you’re prone to motion sickness — or even if you’re not sure — it’s best to prepare before stepping on the boat. Take seasickness medication in advance, wear a patch, or bring ginger chews. Once you’re out there, there’s no turning back, and feeling sick can ruin the whole experience.

Reach out to your captain if there is a particular fish you are looking for. I learned a lot during my conversation with Capt John during my fishing trip. It already has me thinking ahead to when I want to come back.
Kevin Atkins
Just be prepared for very hot and humid conditions. If you experience any kind of motion sickness, make sure you take appropriate measures before hitting the water. All in all, you will have a great time.

Learn about the fishing in saltwater. The heat, tides and bait play huge role. Booking in the fall is ideal folks. Catching stings rays is ideal in the summer times.. have fun and go with the punches. We had a good time

I would say great but the TX shelf is so far out it is a hard run for most people to make if they want to get on quality fish. Otherwise, I don't think I've caught that many snapper on a single trip. I think we pulled up about 40-50 (only kept 12 as limit).

We had such an awesome time with Salty Rods Fishing Charter and Captain Bubba! We went out with our 13-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter, and Captain Bubba was so great with the kids. He was patient, easygoing, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and knew what to do.
One of the coolest parts was catching our own live bait – the kids thought that was the best thing ever. We ended up catching shark and stingray, which was so exciting for all of us. The whole trip was fun, laid-back, and memorable. Highly recommend booking with Captain Bubba if you want a great day out on the water with your family!

The Gulf coast is a different kind of "hot". We live in Louisiana so are accustomed to the heat and humidity. If you are not climatized to this weather, go out as early as you can, bring plenty to drink, but do not expect to escape the sun - it comes up off the water. The fishing is fantastic though.

I have to say, I highly recommend Easy Charter! I can't wait to go fishing with Capt. Ray again. Hopefully he has a trip available in July for Snapper! My last trip with Capt. Ray was 100% exciting and full of catching fish! They handled everything and showed us an excellent time. There were 4 people in my party, myself and 3 ladies. We caught a bunch of fish, one after another! Our Inshore / Jetty trip was very productive. Capt. Ray is a good man, very safe and knowledgeable. He really cares about his customers and goes out of his way to ensure the best possible time on the water. You will not be disappointed. Thanks again Capt Ray, until next time sir!

The fishing is appropriate for all levels of anglers, whether first time or seasoned. Obviously if you know how to fish you’re gonna have more of an experience and get more done because there’s less instructional time but don’t be discouraged. If you’ve never been fishing I would still strongly recommend this trip.
Ashley Salas
If you're sensitive to motion sickness take medicine before you board. If you're not used to being outdoors for long periods of time bring proper clothes and or sunscreen. Bring plenty of water and or your favorite beverages with some snacks. Keep in mind... Not all the fish you're catching can be taken home. There's a benefit in catching smalls to use for baiting sharks. So don't get angry if you catch a small mess of them. Just listen to your guide and try it again. Before you know it, you'll be dragging in a monster of a fight. Just be safe, listen to your guide and most importantly have fun!!!

Do more research. Try to find another angler that has actually been with a guide that can catch fish. It seems to be more and more of guides just taking your money for nothing. Some of them just need to put boat rides, not fishing guides.
Steven Messer
Don’t be scared of the wind, rain, or less than perfect weather. You can’t catch a fish sitting on the couch, get out there and wet a line. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!! Tight lines everyone!!
Steven Messer
Always take in to affect weather, wind, rain, etc. The salt life can throw challenges and you may get a little dirty but you will never be disappointed when fishing Galveston, Texas. Get out bait a hook and tight lines!
Greg Shooks
Keep an eye on the weather, during our time in Galveston the weather changed quickly. We had a storm come in the night before our trip that made the water murky, however it was warm and calm during our trip.
